@redrumlisa Working class Durham alumnus here from the 90's. Has it got worse? It was a bit like that in the posher colleges, but at Cuths and at the science department is wasn't. Durham has had tens of millions pumped into it recently, possibly attracting far less WC folks...

Local Council introduced a policy of allowing student accom building with the idea it would free up housing 4 locals
Uni just kept increasing their freshman intake leading to the same pressures on local housing from 2nd & 3rd years
@redrumlisa The town v gown snobbery in Durham is insane. Total contempt for WCs. It’s actually much healthier & less classist in Oxford. Which is saying something
